Issue 38 · Week of June 19, 2026 Grant Harvester Weekly funding alerts for the rural entrepreneur | |

This week's signal: specialty crops, conservation innovation, rural business development, processing capacity, and ag data are carrying the funding stack. The near-term federal deadlines are real, the state opportunities are uneven, and several "grant" pages are really loan, tax-credit, or watch-list sources. Translation: move fast where the window is open, and don't confuse a funding hub with a check. |
★ Innovation Showcase · Sponsored | | We at Grant Harvester are excited to introduce our new sponsor, Spider Ag. If your farm is anything like ours, you rarely have time to slow down and organize. That's where Spider Ag comes in. Record voice notes, yield maps, soil maps, fertilizer rates, and invoices all on your phone. The app records all of this and gives you reminders and reports tailored for each field.
Does your FSA want historical yield data on the north 80? Ask Spider Ag to pull it up. Your accountant wants invoices from the chemical supplier? Ask Spider to pull it up. Patch of weeds in the south east corner? Mark it on your map and Spider Ag will put a reminder on your phone to go spray it. All your information is protected and the app is easy to use!

Specialty Crop Support · Two Tracks USDA specialty crop support is moving on two tracks: direct producer assistance through ASCF and broader industry support through specialty crop research/block grant programs. Eligibility and applicant types are different — don't mix them up. |
Processing · A Major Funding Theme Meat/poultry processing expansion, local food infrastructure, and middle-of-supply-chain programs are still among the best fits for farms trying to move beyond raw commodity sales. |
Conservation · Tied to Measurable Outcomes Soil health, irrigation efficiency, grazing systems, nutrient management, and carbon/water outcomes are increasingly the basis for funding. Farmers with records and implementation partners have an advantage. |
Rural Business Grants · Applicant Rules These often require a community, nonprofit, local government, cooperative, or development organization as the applicant. Farmers may benefit but are not always the direct applicant. |
| 1. | Specialty crop growers — Check the new ASCF payment program first — it's a direct payment opportunity and shouldn't be buried under grant paperwork. | | 2. | Processing & infrastructure projects — If you're working on processing, storage, cold chain, livestock/meat capacity, or value-added infrastructure, compare federal processing/RBDG routes against your state pages before choosing a path. | | 3. | NIFA Open Data or NRCS CIG applicants — Line up partners now — these are not last-minute "fill out the form Friday morning" grants. | | 4. | State program seekers — Verify the current cycle before spending time. Several good source pages have closed 2026 rounds but remain important watch-list pages. |
| Watch List for the Next Issue | |
| IL, WI, MO, KS, SD specialty crop pages | Several 2026 state cycles recently closed or between rounds — keep in the tracker | | AFT Brighter Future Fund | Most recent window just closed — one of the better direct-to-farmer private sources | | MPPEP Phase 4 | Application window now showing closed on USDA site — monitor for any reopening or Phase 5 announcement |
